RUBYS Artist Update - Visual Arts - Zoë Charlton

2014 grantee Zoë Charlton received a Ruby to support Cultural Currency: Tourists, Trophies, and Tokens, a series of large-scale figure drawings that will contribute to discussions of blackness/otherness by strategically shifting subject matter. While this project is still in process, Zoë recently co-launched 'sindikit, a new project space located at 405 E. Oliver Street. 'sindikit was created to support experimental work, promote practice-based research, and foster art-centered conversations. Congratulations, Zoë, on this latest endeavor!

The Rubys Artist Project Grant program was established by GBCA in 2013 to support the region’s gems - the local creative community of performing, visual, media and literary artists. Created with the vision and initial funding from the Robert W. Deutsch Foundation, the Rubys value art making at the idea stage and supports local artists here and now.
