Being awarded for 30 years of community service is a blessing. We can start in 2015 and back up as all stories do. June 11, 2015 MD Women's Heritage Center celebrates- MD Women In The ARTS HONOREE Certificate of Recognition- Griot Grandmother Edna & June 13, 2015 - 2nd annual performance at The MD Traditions Folklore Festival ( Storytelling at it's beat ) " The Birth Of " Love & Happiness- original stories from my Storyteller's Production Library. Now we can start lest see, In1995, The Successful Black Woman took a oral traditional walk into the Baltimore City Public Schools Systems. After starting this vision, in 2003 i began my spiritual pilgrimage. I took a historical journey from Baltimore, MD. to Biloxi, Miss. collecting everything factual about our Enslaved History known & listed as unknown. Visiting all the southern states as I traveled.This Griots' Traveler rooted the awaking for A GRANDMOTHER'S PILGRIMAGE,INC. Creating After School programs,teaching the original Rites of Passage initiative for Enhancememt and Positive Character Building Skills. To Promote diverse cultural appreciation, for learning experiences. Engaging schools and communities through our Virture Reality Mobile Educational Classroom Tours. These Tours were a new Educational tool. they included an * inter-active historical theater ( Participate & Educate ). Promoting the Theme " Coming From The East", was an original - setting a new age old story. Griot are the vessels of stories an traditions passionately from Decades to decades. Before there was any form of a written language, the Griots' Spirituality persevered and spoke out through our oral rivers of spoken words. Keeping the Firmament called Earth directly in universal order with our" Creator".Come Take my Journey-- As an Author-2005 ( A Family Gathering ), Editor- 2006 ( A Grandmother's Pilgrimage Community Newsletter ), Total Women's Out -reach Ministries -2006 until present, Community Women of Power Award 2010, and numerous Resolution Awards from The Baltimore City Office of our Mayor-and City Council- 2007, 2009, 2010 and 2012, 2015. Also The Family League of Baltimore City, After School Institute and the Governor's Office for Youth and Children. Has encouraged this Sacred Griots' stepping out on Faith Lifestyle.Give Thanks to Our " Spirits In Motion. Freedom Students" Youth Service Group. My Resreach has spear-headed several inter-circle groups " B.E.A.M- BALTIMORE' S ELDER ARTIST MOVEMENT " The Roots of Art Lost Between Culture and History". My journey -My Song, My Story has been a Lightning Bolt of Love anf Passion for this Sacred Griot called out by my service to my Community and my Creator..My Poems have created my Fabric Expressions " Craft Quilts Stories & Collections, ( That May Be Purchased on Request!!!! Sooo Many Stories So Much LOVE for everyone to be passed by The Keeper of The Flames ( That would be ME ).... Peace......
