Baltimore Jazz Alliance's New Leaders

In January, 2016 Baltimore Jazz Alliance elected the following new members to its board: Michael Andom, Olivia Johnson, Henry Kornblatt, Jesse Powers, Michael Raitzyk and Rena Sweetwine. All are musicians except Johnson, a senior at MICA. In February Ian Rashkin was selected as BJA's new president and Michael Raitzyk as its new vice president. Rashkin plays bass, leads jazz combos and has been active on the BJA board for two years. When living in Seattle in the '90s, he co-directed The Young Composers Collective, then served on the board of its successor, The Degenerate Art Ensemble.

Mark Osteen retired after 12 years as BJA president. Former 12-year vice president Bob Jacobson remains on the board.
