The William and Irene Weinberg Family Baltimore Jewish Film Festival is in its 30th year. The Festival’s mission is to show the best new movies of Jewish interest. For 2018, there will be ten screenings at the Gordon Center for Performing Arts, plus additional screenings at other Baltimore-region venues. The Festival is curated by the Film Festival Director and the volunteer Film Committee.
An intern is needed beginning July 2017. Weekly time commitment is negotiable but ideally is between eight and 12 hours per week and consistent. Must be available any two days, Monday through Thursday, between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.
This position reports to Film Festival Director and includes a stipend.
Intern will learn about various components of a film festival including:
-Film selection process
-Marketing (print and digital) and outreach
-Working with volunteers
-Finding sponsors and partners
-Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 suite (Word, Outlook, Powerpoint, Excel)
-Facility with internet searches
-Good writing skills
-Good organizational skills
-Good telephone skills
-Attention to accuracy
-Research films of Jewish interest using leads provided by Director, such as names of other film festivals, names of films, and film distributor websites. Enter films into database and contact distributors for screeners.
-Coordinate with Director regarding distribution of screeners to film committee.
-Assist with committee communications.
-Monitor receipt of film evaluations from committee members.
-For selected films, gather press kits, write summaries, research possible speakers, assist in developing events related to films.
-Assist Director with various administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings and tracking invoices.
