BSA seeks Arts Technologist

The Baltimore School for the Arts is engaged in a search for an Arts Technologist to manage a new Mac-based studio of technology assets (16 student work stations) that will bring professional-level tools to students in music, visual arts, video, photography and stage design.

The Arts Technologist will also assist students engaged in projects utilizing ProTools, Adobe Creative Cloud, Max 6, Ableton Live, Finale, Vienna Symphonic Library, Vectorworks Designer and Lightwright. Candidates are required to have, at a minimum. general familiarity with these tools and software.

This position will be a part-time position of approximately 20 hours per week for the 38-week academic year. An afternoon to early evening schedule is envisioned for this job. This position will begin on or about August 15, 2014.

The BSA Arts Technologist is an essential part of a passionate, focused, and driven effort to support student collaboration between the four art disciplines, and provide an interactive experience that mimics real-world environments. The Arts Technologist will engage with school faculty, understand course/project objectives, and assist our students willing to take their work to the next level. The ideal candidate must demonstrate exceptional organizational skills and a proven ability to lead multiple simultaneous projects in a fast-paced deadline-oriented environment. Our Arts Technologist will use infectious passion and concise compassionate teaching to be a driving force behind all successful technology projects.

Please note that candidates are not applying for a formal teacher position. However, this person will supervise groups of students working with the technology in the studio. Additionally, maintaining BSA’s inventory of desktop computers will be involved as well.

  • Able to establish credibility with the faculty and students by improving collaboration through better organization, understanding and implementing technology concepts and practices, respect for all, and an internal drive to achieve.
  • Able to work with all types of learners. Challenging those who are capable, and training with compassion for those mastering the fundamentals.
  • A desire to have students succeed by teaching them not only the technology to produce their art, but by showing them how to engage and collaborate, manage their time, and holding themselves accountable.
  • Stay up to date with technology and industry trends and become the authority on the tools and methods for creating content

Sample work schedule:

M-Th: 2-7 pm 20hours
Sat: 10-2 pm 4hours
Rate $40 per hour
