Prizes and Awards
More than $8,500 will be awarded, including three $1,000 Awards of Excellence.
Awards are based upon the actual artworks. Shipped work must arrive at the Nicolet Art Gallery by September 14 and remain for the entire exhibition. You may hand deliver entries on September 15 from 10 am – 4 pm. All proceeds of sales are assigned to the artist. Awards will be distributed after the close of the show.
Juror/Judge: Mark Steven Greenfield
A native Angeleno, Mark Steven Greenfield studied under Charles White and John Riddle at Otis Art Institute. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Art Education from California State University, Long Beach and a Masters of Fine Arts degree in painting and drawing from California State University Los Angeles. He served as director of the Watts Towers Arts Center from 1993 – 2002 and the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery from 2004 – 2010. Greenfield’s work has been exhibited extensively throughout the United States and internationally. His work deals primarily with the African American experience and in recent years has focused on the effects of stereotypes and racial politics on American culture. Additional Specifications and Guidelines
The competition is open to all artists 18 years or older who are US residents. Each artist may submit images of recent, original, 2D hangable artwork in any medium including photography, fiber, and mixed media. There is no theme.
A non-refundable fee of $35 will entitle the artist to submit either one or two images – ONE image per artwork.
Images must accurately represent the work entered.
Digital images must be jpg files, 300 dpi at approximately 4 x 6 inches. Files should be named with the following format: (Last name)_(First initial)_(Title)_(Entry #).jpg
DO NOT USE Kodak or Walmart, etc. ‘Easy Share’ files.
Accepted images may be photographically reproduced for educational and publicity purposes.
