Application For Sound Off Live!

Known as Baltimore’s “Battle of the Bands,” Sound Off Live! Presented by Hard Rock Café Baltimore returns on Wednesday, October 17 and Thursday, October 18, 2018 from 6pm to 10pm. Produced by the Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts (BOPA), Sound Off Live! is a live audition for up-and-coming bands or musicians interested in performing at Light City, Artscape or the Baltimore Book Festival. At Sound Off Live!, competing bands and musicians have 15 minutes to perform three songs in front of an audience and a panel of judges. The winners are guaranteed a performance slot at Light City, Artscape or the Baltimore Book Festival. Sound Off Live! is made possible in part by presenting sponsor Hard Rock Café Baltimore and takes place in their inner harbor venue at 601 E. Pratt Street, Baltimore, MD, 21202. The general public is invited and encouraged to attend. To apply, bands must submit an application complete with music samples no later than Wednesday, August 15, 2018. The application is available at http://promotionandarts.org/events-festivals/sound-live.

Only bands and musicians from the Maryland, Delaware and Virginia region that have never been booked at Light City, Artscape or the Baltimore Book Festival are eligible to apply. Applicants must keep the following dates open: April 5-13, 2019(Light City), July 19-21, 2019 (Artscape) and September 27-29, 2019 (Baltimore Book Festival).

About Light City:

Light City is a free festival that transforms Baltimore with large-scale light installations, performances, music and innovation. Central to Light City is the BGE Light Art Walk along Baltimore’s Inner Harbor, featuring more than 50 attractions including illuminated sculptures, projections, interactive technologies, performances, concerts, food vendors and a children’s area.

About Artscape:

Artscape is America’s largest FREE arts festival, featuring a full schedule of performing arts including live concerts from national, regional and local acts on multiple outdoor stages and a wide variety of opera, theater, street theater, classical music and jazz performances. Additionally, the festival showcases visual artists from the Baltimore region and beyond through an artists’ market, outdoor and indoor exhibitions and an extensive variety of local food and beverage vendors.

About the Baltimore Book Festival:

The Baltimore Book Festival is a “literary feast with gourmet eats,” celebrating books, creativity, knowledge and ideas. Over three days, the festival features hundreds of local, celebrity and national authors, book signings, more than 100 exhibitors and booksellers, nonstop readings on multiple stages, cooking demos by top chefs, poetry readings, workshops, panel discussions, hands-on projects for kids, live music and a local food and beverage program.
