AMP CAMP IS BACK!
An Arts Mentorship Program under the direction of CJay Philip and Rosiland Cauthen, AMP Camp introduces 3rd through 8th graders to onstage and offstage production skills: acting, creative writing, stage management, dance, costumes, and community theater.
Campers are mentored by award winning arts educators who use the arts to build community and confidence in young people that will last far beyond their summer. NOTE – Campers have many opportunities for performances and mentorship beyond the one week camp.
Summer Crickets is here! Offered by Children’s Chorus of Maryland and School of Music (CCM), Crickets gently encourages young children to explore the voice as their first true instrument. Our one-week Summer Crickets session is a wonderful way to kick off the summer and introduce your little one to music fundamentals! Crickets is a fun, play-based music and movement class for boys and girls ages 4 to 6. Trained teachers engage the body and the mind in joyful music-making through musical games, art activities and movement. Snacks and all materials will be provided!
No need to cook on Wednesdays this summer! Food Trucks are coming to Ascension Lutheran Church's parking lot every Wednesdays from 5-8 pm. Each month we'll be donating profits to a different organization supporting those in need in our community. See you on the lot!
Artists from around the region will gather in Historic Ellicott City June 27-July 1 to participate in Paint It! Ellicott City, an annual plein air painting event. Spectators are invited to spend the summer weekend strolling the streets and shops of the picturesque mill town and watching the artists at work. Community artists are encouraged to grab their easel and brushes and join the fun as Open Paint-Out participants.
Sprout Films returns to the Columbia Festival of the Arts for an evening of poignant, beautiful, humorous and thought provoking short films featuring people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Sprout Flim Festival showcases films related to the field of developmental disabilities, fulfilling its mission to make the invisible visible.Ten (10) films will be featured. Post-screening Q&A with Sprout Founder and Executive Director, Anthony Di Salvo.
Join the Orchestra on for a FREE Summer Pops Concert at the Chrysalis on the grounds of Merriweather Park at Symphony Woods. The whole family will love film favorites like Superman, Magnificent Seven, and The Lion King, Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody, patriotic songs, and the ultimate outdoor classic: The 1812 Overture! And crowd-favorite Sola Fadiran joins the orchestra for some of Broadway’s greatest hits!
Do you know a child who loves to sing? Children’s Chorus of Maryland (CCM) will hold auditions on August 27th, 28th, & 29th and September 5th in Towson for children as young as 5 ½ who are interested in participating in an exciting choral performance program. CCM features highly qualified teachers, small classes and in-depth vocal enrichment to provide children with a complete musical education and choral experience. Crickets is a fun, play-based music and movement class for boys and girls ages 4 to 6. Trained teachers engage the body and the mind in joyful music-making through musical games and movement. Offered by Children’s Chorus of Maryland and School of Music (CCM), Crickets gently encourages young children to explore the voice as their first true instrument. Classes start Saturday, September 21st, 2019 starting at 9AM or 10AM in Towson. Classes are 50 minutes long, meet once a week, and last for 10 weeks. The tuition for the fall session costs $200.

The annual 4th of July Pet Parade and Animal Talent Show is coming up at The American Visionary Art Museum right next to Federal Hill on Key Highway - It is free to all! The parade starts at 9am and optional pet registration for our animal talent show opens at 8:30 am. The event time is from 8:30am - noon the same day.
(Note: Street Parking or meter parking are available. Pet Parade starts and ends on July 4th 2019 )

Maryland Humanities brings "Pirate Queen" Grace O'Malley back to life through its program, Chautauqua: Making Waves Chautauqua celebrates its 25th season this summer. A living history performance by actor-scholar Mary Ann Jung will be followed by a question and answer session, which will spark spirited conversation and provide educational family fun.
A one of a kind music camp for children who love to sing! Music & Imagination Summer Day Camp (July 15-19th, 2019 from 8AM to 2:15PM) features singing, dancing & crafts on the campus of Loyola University Maryland in Baltimore. Children learn and use the solfa method of reading music and sing choral repertoire. Taught by Kodály trained counselors, this fun-filled week includes puppet musicals, folk dancing, singing games, and outdoor activities. All children participate in a performance the last day of camp. Snacks and materials provided. Camp tuition is $175 for the week.
