AMP CAMP IS BACK!
An Arts Mentorship Program under the direction of CJay Philip and Rosiland Cauthen, AMP Camp introduces 3rd through 8th graders to onstage and offstage production skills: acting, creative writing, stage management, dance, costumes, and community theater.
Campers are mentored by award winning arts educators who use the arts to build community and confidence in young people that will last far beyond their summer. NOTE – Campers have many opportunities for performances and mentorship beyond the one week camp.
Honest, funny, and dancing with heart, Queens Girl in the World chronicles the misadventures of bright-eyed, brown-skinned Jacqueline Marie Butler, whose sudden transfer from a protective, middle class late-1950s upbringing in Queens to a progressive, predominantly-Jewish private school in Greenwich Village, adds comical confusion to her already quizzical, fish-out-of-water adolescence. Lively and poignant—and punctuated with the irresistible sound of Motown—Queens Girl in the World tags along for a young woman’s journey of self-discovery, at the onset of Civil Rights-era social change.
In this talk, University of Maryland historian Dr. Richard Bell will explore the success of the Tony Award-winning musical, “Hamilton,” and what it tells us about the marriage of history and show business. Learn what this amazing musical gets right and gets wrong about Alexander Hamilton, the American Revolution, the birth of the United Sates and why all that matters. Bell will examine choices “Hamilton’s” creators made to simplify, dramatize and humanize the complicated events and stories on which the show is based.

Perhaps William Shakespeare’s best-known play, Romeo and Juliet is THE classic of youth on the cusp of adulthood, and star-crossed love torn apart by passion and vengeance. Like life, it’s a play that’s half comedy and half tragedy; Romeo and Juliet will make you laugh out loud before it breaks your heart.
Casually Dope invites you to start your Saturday night with us. Turning the stories of our community into comedy, each show we'll invite a guest or just chop it up with audience and use those discussions to create a show like none other. You might learn something, you might not, but you'll definitely leave full of laughter.

Last year, amidst the more than seventeen hours (!) of new content we produced, there were two lesser-seen gems. Altar Ego and Project P.S. were created for an installation at the Peale Center called The Institute of Visionary History and the Archives of the Deep Now. The lucky few who attended were treated to an intense trip to another place and time.
