As part of Domestic Violence Awareness month, the community will gather in Patterson Park to walk in solidarity to end domestic violence during the inaugural Reach for the Stars Walkathon on October 29 from 5 to 8 p.m. Domestic violence cases have increased during the pandemic as more people have stayed home and experienced financial hardships, which makes it even more difficult to get help or leave an abusive relationship.
Go behind the scenes to learn how the rare surviving uniform of Revolutionary War hero, Lt. Colonel Tench Tilghman (1744-1786), was reproduced for the Maryland Center for History and Culture's latest exhibition, The Unfinished Revolution: Maryland in the Wars for Independence. Allison Tolman, Vice President of Collections & Interpretation at MCHC, will dive into discussion with Neal Hurst, historic tailor and Associate Curator of Costume & Textiles at Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.
Let's celebrate Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) by touring the exhibit at the Walters Art Museum entitled "Translations and Transitions / Traducciones y Transiciones: A Celebration of Mexican and Central American Independence (1821–2021)." Visitaremos la exhibición charlando en español. Free admission. You can also contribute to the Community Altar on view, designed by Baltimore artist Edgar Reyes.
