Improv to Sketch Workshop with Hannah Rehak

In this workshop, students will learn the basics of re-improvisation and sketch structure. Using improv fundamentals, students will explore premise, game, heightening and character development to find the funny. Students will leave with tools to improvise their way to a script and with a better understanding of what makes a sketch "work." This workshop is recommended for intermediate and/or advanced improvisers. No sketch background necessary!

In this workshop, students will strengthen their acting chops in service of playing more honest relationships on stage. We'll explore tools to develop fully embodied characters through voice, physicality, and POV that can sustain emotionally grounded scenes no matter how absurd, broad and unique their characters are. The question at the heart of this workshop is, no matter the character, "Would they really say/do that?" This class is best suited to advanced improvisers who want to stretch themselves as actors and create characters that they can sustain for more than a few minutes.
