Online workshops: 5/30, 6/1, 6/6, 6/8 with performance on 6/9. This two-week poetry workshop will focus on the particulars of what it means to live, work, create, love, and grieve in Baltimore. We will use the city as our lens to declare our creative visions, describe our neighbor/hood(s), document that which we love and have lost, and explore new approaches to writing (and reading) poetry. There will be generative creative prompts to get your poetic juices flowing. One-on-one sessions will also be scheduled to discuss current and future projects, opportunities, and sources of support.

Join Bach in Baltimore's orchestra for the final concert of the 2021-2022 season--a lively send-off to summer featuring a quintet of concertos from some of our other choice Baroque composers, including Handel, Vivaldi, Telemann, and CPE Bach. Our concert finale of the season features instrumentation on the organ, flute, oboe, viola d’amore, and oboe d’amore. The viola d’amore and oboe d’amore were popular instruments during the Baroque period–but are a rare find to hear live today!
An American woman on an escape from reality in Bangkok befriends a novice Buddhist monk. As they work through their wounds together, their lost loved ones journey on in the spirit world, all trying to achieve some level of peace and maybe even enlightenment. Told through movement in a magical realism frame, this play explores the journey from grief to the start of healing. CJay Philip directs this important world premiere.
The Pacifica Quartet is “nothing short of phenomenal” (The Telegraph), known for its “vibrant, highly charged playing” (NPR). The winners of two Grammy Awards return to SHCS with “the feisty, rich-voiced” (The New York Times) soprano Karen Slack with a new work by Baltimore composer James Lee III, co-commissioned with Carnegie Hall, and a program of string quartets.
