DESCRIPTION:Director and harpsichordist Adam Pearl, in conjunction with Pe
abody Conservatory's Early Music Department, presents two short but deca
dent operas from the French baroque repertoire. By prefacing Marc-Antoine
Charpentier's hour-long treatment of the Orpheus legend with the farcica
l interludes he wrote for Molière's /The Forced Marriage/, we hope to sh
ow two contrasting views on the subject of love and loss, treating the a
ncient myth as a ritual of salvation enacted in a madhouse.
