DESCRIPTION:*/Radical Forms and Practices/* with Aneta Georgievska-Shine,
Professor of Art History, University of Maryland\n\nThis lecture examine
s the groundbreaking techniques that defined Dada’s visual vocabulary. It
looks at the invention of collage and photomontage as tools of political
and cultural critique, as exemplified by the absurdist assemblages of K
urt Schwitters’s and Hannah Höch’s photomontages, which exposed the cont
radictions of gender and identity in Weimar Germany. Together, these rad
ical practices redefined the limits of artistic expression.
