DESCRIPTION:In this 3-hour workshop, students will learn how to create a c
 ast metal  object or piece of jewelry. Cuttlefish casting is a method that
  allows the  beginning student to participate in metal casting with immedi
 ate and exciting  results. The bone of a cuttlefish (an animal similar to 
 a squid) is carved to  create a mold. Molten metal is then poured into the
  cuttlefish mold resulting  in a metal replica of the carving. After carvi
 ng and casting, students will  learn how to finish the cast metal and wil
 l leave with a finished object or  piece of jewelry.
