Built from experimentation and whatever Works drags back to the studio, from lamp shades to Dunkin’ cups to chair legs, the paintings carry visible traces of doubt, indecision, and time: faint outlines of painted over forms, dense textures beside thin fields of color, stranded staples from material long since removed. For Works, doubt is as structural to a painting as color or composition.
https://www.baltimoreculture.org/sites/default/files/styles/event_detail/public/event-image/EllieWorks_ShowFlyer.jpg?itok=k5rzkNzh
Shea Kister presents remember? remember. Drawing on her study of trauma’s effects on memory and relationships, Kister enlists fragmentation, distortion, and dissociation through scale, surface, and mixed media. Explosions of spikes embed in and break out of her ceramic vessels and sculptures, giving form to emotions that resist description. The show maps memory through clouds imagined as the inside of the mind, and invites visitors to arrange and rearrange an interactive memory map of their own. Opening on Saturday, July 11th, from 6–9pm.

https://www.baltimoreculture.org/sites/default/files/styles/event_detail/public/event-image/remember_%20remember..jpg?itok=S2rM-2sd
