His Mom was a blues singer, his Dad played jazz guitar. Armstrong formed his first band in the 7th grade, and by age 17 he was touring the country. James would start making waves on the local California blues circuit by his 20s, becoming the youngest member of Smokey Wilson\u0027s band. In the 1980s, James was a founding member of the band Mama Roo and received his first recording contract for Crescendo Records.","image":"https:\/\/www.baltimoreculture.org\/sites\/default\/files\/styles\/event_detail\/public\/event-image\/image%20-%202026-04-14T024028.128.png?itok=GPrsYZQQ","location":{"country":"US","administrative_area":"MD","locality":"Baltimore","postal_code":"21220","thoroughfare":"1307 Wilson Point Rd"}},{"guid":"https:\/\/www.baltimoreculture.org\/node\/39662","nid":"39662","title":"Deceived ","url":"https:\/\/www.baltimoreculture.org\/calendar\/event\/39662\/deceived","created":"1763514442","changed":"1779985107","categories":"Performance","description":"DECEIVED \nBased on the play GASLIGHT by Patrick Hamilton\nAdapted by Johnna Wright and Patty Jamieson\nDirected by Vincent M.
