The Baker Artist Portfolios and Awards were created to support artists and promote Baltimore as a strong creative community. Through a sophisticated online portfolio and significant monetary prizes for the winners, the Baker Artist program serves artists of all disciplines who live and work in the Greater Baltimore region. The portfolio site and awards were established by the William G. Baker, Jr. Memorial Fund and are a program of the Greater Baltimore Cultural Alliance.

Artists may upload their portfolios onto the Baker Artist site, which promotes area artists to regional, national and international audiences. The site has been viewed by hundreds of thousands of art lovers, critics, gallery owners, academics, and leaders in creative business in nearly every country around the globe. For the 2015 and 2016 season, the following awards prizes will be given to slected artists: the $50,000 Mary Sawyers Imboden Prize, the $20,000 Mary Sawyers Baker Prize, and three $5,000 prizes: The Semmes G. Walsh, Nancy Haragan and Board of Governors Awards.
