Magical Experiences Arts Company seeks performing artist

The Magical Experiences Arts Company (MEAC) is seeking an assistant that will act as both official driver and performing artist at the following residencies: The Delrey School, and the Broadmead nursing home. MEAC is a specialized theater organization that provides interactive therapeutic performances for schools serving the needs of students with severe multiple disabilities, and adults in the last stages of Alzheimers. Each one show involves, story-telling, mime, dance, touch therapy and other theater methods that educate, inspire and heal individuals who struggle daily to communicate their needs and emotions.

MEAC is looking for a female arts performer, who is interested in training in the disability arts field. The performer would be paid to be the official driver, meeting at Joanne Margolius's house in Baltimore City at 8.15am and driving to either The Delrey School - serving the needs of children with severe multiple disabilities, or Broadmead, serving the needs of adults in the last stages of Alzheimer's. The morning would consist of set up, performance (55 minutes), clean up and review. Drop off Joanne at home. Finished by 1.00pm, sometimes earlier. This opportunity to work with one of America's most highly acclaimed Disability Arts groups would take place on three Fridays out of every month.

The assistant to Joanne Margolius would be paid $50 travel, $50 performance for each show.

MEAC is happy to offer this opportunity to an artist who has not let worked in the disability field, training will be offered. MEAC is looking for a loving, kind, compassionate individual who loves theater, but you do not have to have lots of stage experience. It takes time for our students/ residents to build up trust, so we are looking for an artist who will commit to at least one school year - September 2017 to May 2018.
