Summer Arts Camp Instructors - Part Time

The Walters Art Museum is seeking creative and enthusiastic individuals to work in our Education Division as Summer Camp Instructors in Family Programs. Reporting to the Manager of Family Programs, Summer Camp Instructors engage campers in grades 1-2 or grades 3-5 in creative exploration by implementing interactive activities and art projects in museum galleries and studios; collaborate with part-time instructors and other museum staff; supervise groups of 15-20 campers; ensure safe and happy environment; and organize and prepare materials. All lessons are based on the Walters’ collection and weekly themes. Full-time Museum staff will oversee the camp curricula and support Camp Instructors. Instructors will review lesson plans with the Summer Camp team, and attend the mandatory orientation prior to camp.

Part - Time instructors for grades 1-5 should be available to teach all 7 weeks of camp (June 24-Aug 9).

  • Morning Instructors shift Monday – Friday 8:00am – 1:00 pm
  • Afternoon Instructors shift Monday – Friday 12:00 – 5:30 pm

Requirements: A.A. or B.A. in studio art, community arts, art education, or museum education plus 1 year of experience working with children required. Community arts, art education, or museum education experience required. Candidates must be outgoing, provide excellent customer service, and possess strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Candidates must be mature and work well with others.
