Creative Alliance seeks OST Manager


Classification: Full-Time, Exempt
Reports to: Education Director
Compensation: $38,000-40,000 (salary commensurate with experience)
Schedule: Monday- Friday (10:00AM-6:00PM school year; varies in summer)
Sites: Creative Alliance and Tench Tilghman E/M School

Overview: Creative Alliance provides out-of-school-time programming that includes academic, artistic and cultural enrichment to students in K-8th grade in educational settings throughout the city. Students receive academic tutoring, multicultural art enrichments, homework help, and exercise. Creative Alliance partners with various community organizations and teaching artists to provide arts enrichment including theater, African drumming, Mexican dance, percussive music, cooking, video game design, basketball, and boxing.

The OST Manager manages the the out of school time program at Tench Tilghman, according to program goals, during the school year and the Teen Council in association with YouthWorks in the summer. The OST manager also supervises the Site Coordinator, Academic Teachers, and Enrichment Teachers at Tench Tilghman.

Principal Responsibilities:

Program Leadership

  • Represents Creative Alliance positively and promotes the mission and program goals to school staff, parents, and colleagues
  • Establish and foster a collaborative relationship with School administrators
  • Develop and implement Quality Improvement Plan
  • Participate in School Family Council and Leadership meetings monthly
  • Actively engage with students, parents, and staff
  • Ensure implementation of BCPS’ Positive Behavior Incentive System (PBIS) on site
  • Develops ideas for student incentives with staff
  • Develops programs for Service Learning and Family Engagement with Community School Coordinator
  • Acts as first responder to parents on site
  • Interview, plan, and implement Teen Council, a summer work program for youth


  • Collects, files, and responds to all concerns and student incident reports
  • Understands and follows the Creative Alliance After-School Policies and Expectations and program schedule and BCPS early dismissal and holiday schedule
  • Ensure proper data collection maintained for program evaluation
  • Ensure all grant requirements are met including data entry into grant funder databases and quarterly reports
  • Prepares for and participates in quarterly assessments and funder visits
  • Attends grant funder trainings and professional development

Support and Supervise Staff and Volunteers

  • Attends planning meetings for staff management with Education Director
  • Assists with hiring, training, and on-boarding of part-time education staff
  • Oversees professional development goals for all staff
  • Ensures that all staff and students follow the school’s safety protocols
  • Writes incident reports for staff with unexcused absences and tardiness with suggestions for action plans
  • Approves timecards for supervisees
  • Monitor staffing needs

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a youth development setting
  • At least 3 years’ experience working with K-8 children and youth
  • Supervisory and management skills
  • Enthusiasm for Creative Alliance’s mission and programs
  • Complete a criminal background check
  • Bachelors’ degree

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to establish and maintain collegial relations and collaborate with diverse communities
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Attention to detail and efficiency
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Visual or performing art background
