The Howard County Arts Council, a multi-purpose non-profit arts agency, seeks a self-directed, outgoing individual for an entry level arts administration position in a small, fast-paced office environment. The Community Engagement & Long Reach Studio position reports to the Deputy Director for Long Reach, ARTreach, and program-related assignments (approximately 16 hours per week), and to the Development Manager for development, membership, and office administration assignments (approximately 24 hours per week). This position supports the Deputy Director by administering, coordinating, and implementing assigned programs and program-related community engagement activities; and supports the Development Manager by administering, coordinating, and implementing assigned office, development, and development-related community engagement activities. The assistant will be expected to carry out specific assigned tasks as well as develop and complete assignments on his or her own.
Long Reach duties include, but are not limited to: processing studio applications and rental payments; maintaining accurate rental records in Salesforce; generating required program, facility, and financial reports; maintaining shared spaces and supplies; submitting maintenance requests to Howard County Facilities; serving as point of contact for Long Reach studio artists and staff; and providing administrative and logistical support for the Deputy Director and the ARTreach Festival staff, including recruiting and managing festival volunteers.
Development duties include, but are not limited to: maintaining accurate membership records in Salesforce; generating membership correspondence and reports; providing administrative and logistical support for annual fundraising events; attending community engagement events to promote membership and programs; coordinating and attending Arts Council exhibition and special event receptions; recruiting and managing event volunteers; answering phones; and providing general administrative and office support.
Qualifications include: B.A. plus one to two years experience in non-profit administration. Experience in Salesforce or similar content management system preferred. Must be able to use a personal computer and related office equipment and have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office or similar applications. Must have own transportation; be able to operate an automobile; lift up to 50 pounds; remain seated for long periods of time; and bend, stoop, reach, and climb without difficulty.
This is a full-time, 40 hour per week, entry-level position in a mid-sized non-profit arts organization; salary low $30s. Occasional evening/weekend hours are required.
