Richard Rodgers and His Sounds of Music

Richard Rodgers and His Sounds of Music

Co-presented with Stevenson University

Featuring Carolyn Black-Sotir and American Music Theater Artists, Music Director Robert Suggs and the Greenspring Valley Orchestra, and Maestro Edward Polochick and Concert Artists of Baltimore.

Celebrate the creative genius of the American musical theatre composer Richard Rodgers who Time Magazine deemed “one of the most influential American artists of the 20th century.”

Following a sold-out performance in October 2015, The Gordon, Stevenson University, and American Music Theatre Artists are joining forces once again to celebrate Rogers incredible ingenuity and imagination.

Richard Rodgers and his Sounds of Music pays tribute to the composer’s vast body of work, comprising more than 1000 songs and 42 musicals.

The program showcases early Rodgers and Hart classics like Manhattan, Slaughter on 10th Avenue, My Romance, and Loveralong with Rodgers and Hammerstein classics from Oklahoma!, South Pacific, Carousel, The King and I, and The Sound of Music.

Abandoning the conventions of the predictable symphony concert format, Carolyn Black-Sotir combines music, dramatic narrative, and stunning images to create a provocative theatrical concert experience.
