Paul O’Dette & Ronn McFarlane Lute Concert
Paul O’Dette is currently Director of Early Music and Professor of Lute at the Eastman School of Music and is Artistic Director of the Boston Early Music Festival. One of the most influential figures in his field, Mr. O’Dette has helped define the technical and stylistic standards to which 21st-century performers aspire.
GRAMMY-nominated lutenist Ronn McFarlane has made his mark in music as a founding member of the Baltimore Consort; the founder of Ayreheart; and as a guest artist with Apollo’s Fire, The Bach Sinfonia, The Catacoustic Consort, The Folger Consort, Houston Grand Opera, The Oregon Symphony, The Portland Baroque Orchestra, and The Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra.
The program is titled “For Two Lutes: Virtuoso Duets from Italy and England.” It features the two musicians “dueling” on their lutes, trading passages back and forth with increasingly dazzling feats of virtuosity.
