“Got to hand it to them: 10 Hairy Legs show what modern dance should be.” – Palm Beach Daily News
10 Hairy Legs
June 20 & 21
All-male repertory dance company 10 Hairy Legs returns to Baltimore with Gay Pride Celebration. Formed in 2012, the mission of 10 Hairy Legs is to advance the understanding of the male role in dance through the creation, acquisition and performance of exceptional work.
The program includes:
Brian
2018 Emmy Award nominee Al Blackstone’s 2017 commissioned quintet speaks to the loneliness of adolescence, the desire for friendship and the journey to self-realization. Sparked by humor and poignancy, this work displays the company’s notable acting skills.
Except from The Portuguese Suite
Christopher Williams’ sinuous duet set to traditional Portuguese Fado songs.
Friends of Dorothy
David Parker’s tongue in cheek duet set to a rousing score of songs sung by Debbie Reynolds and Jane Powell.
Bud
Stephen Petronio’s iconic duet with intricate partnering set to Rufus Wainwright’s “Oh What a World.”
Andy Warhol’s Bleu Movie
A 2017 10HL commission by Raja Feather Kelly, this quintet alludes to the 1970 Gay Club scene and the nature of fleeting attraction and romance, set to an original score by Bryan Strimpel.
