Meet Charles Ball, an escaped slave from Calvert County who took part in the defense of Fort McHenry and the Battle of Baltimore during the War of 1812. Thanks to his slave narrative, his story provides a rare in-depth look into the lives of African Americans from the Chesapeake. In partnership with the Star-Spangled Banner Flag House Museum.
