International Film Festival: November 10-14, 2014

BLOOD ON THE SCREEN: The HCC Film Program has developed a number of film series to complement various productions and events for you to sink your fangs into this season. All films are shown free to the public.

Monday, November 10, 2014 at 12 pm and 7 pm
Blood Glacier
(2013) 98 minutes – a drama directed by Marvin Kren, written by Benjamin Hessler, and starring Gerhard Liebmann, Edita Malovcic, and Brigitte Kren in a film about scientists working in the Austrian Alps who discover that a glacier is leaking a liquid that appears to be affecting local wildlife. In English and German with English subtitles.

Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at 12 pm and 7 pm
Blood of my Blood
(2011) 131 minutes – a drama written and directed by João Canijo and starring Rafael Morais, Rita Blanco, and Anabela Moreira in a film about a regular family living in the outskirts of Lisbon that sees the serenity of their lives shaken beyond any remedy within a week. In Portuguese with English subtitles.

Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at 12 pm and 7 pm
In the Land of Blood and Honey
(2011) 127 minutes – a drama written and directed by Angelina Jolie and starring Zana Marjanovic, Goran Kostic, and Rade Serbedzija in a film set during the Bosnian War where Danijel, a soldier fighting for the Serbs, re-encounters Ajla, a Bosnian who's now a captive in his camp he oversees. Their once promising connection has become ambiguous as their motives have changed.

Thursday, November 13, 2014 at 12 pm and 7 pm
Blood Pressure
(2012) 101 minutes – a drama directed by Sean Garrity and written by Garrity and Bill Fugler, starring Michelle Giroux, Judah Katz, and Jonas Chernick in a film about a quietly frustrated Toronto woman who finds her life changed by a secret admirer sending letters bearing lavish gifts and increasingly strange instructions. In English with English subtitles.

Friday, November 14, 2014 at 7 pm
Blood Ties
(2013) 127 minutes – a crime drama written and directed by Guillaume Canet and starring Clive Owen, Marion Cotillard, and Billy Crudup in a film about two brothers, on either side of the law, who face off over organized crime in Brooklyn during the 1970s. In English with English subtitles.
