The BSO at the BBC Proms: A Gala Celebration

We are delighted to announce that Maryland Public Television is presenting the U.S. broadcast premiere of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s debut performance at the BBC Proms in London’s Royal Albert Hall, which took place in August 2018 during the BSO’s tour of the United Kingdom and Ireland on Saturday May 9 at 6 pm.

This two-hour concert broadcast features Music Director Marin Alsop leading the BSO in a riveting performance of Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5 and Leonard Bernstein’s Slava! A Political Overture. In addition, renowned pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet will join the Orchestra in Bernstein’s Symphony No. 2, The Age of Anxiety.

The concert will be broadcast on MPT’s main channel in high definition and livestreamed on all MPT digital platforms including www.MPT.org/livestream.
