Many people believe being a citizen means paying your taxes, obeying the laws, and casting a ballot every four years. But is that all we really ought to do, transact with America like a consumer? AS a citizen we have a GREATER invitation! We have many more RIGHTS, and frankly obligations, that enable us to co-create our civil society. Are you prepared to do so?

Ron Kipling Williams uses art, media, performance, and education to break down walls, facilitate open and honest conversations, and build community. He has generated a reputation for challenging and authentic work, tackling issues of race, class, and identity, and has influenced a generation of Maryland regional artists and social change agents. His awards include Maryland State Arts Council Individual Arts, Baltimore City African American Unsung Hero, and Fulbright Alternate.

Williams holds an MFA from the University of Baltimore. Currently he is adjunct professor and faculty fellow at the Hoffberger Center for Professional Ethics. He has worked with numerous organizations including the Baltimore Office of Promotion and Arts, CityLit Project, the Maryland State Arts Council, Arts Everyday, the Baltimore Algebra Project, Wide Angle Youth Media, and the Youth Resiliency Institute.

He has performed in numerous venues including Artscape, Charm City Fringe Festival, Penn State University, 100,000 Poets for Change, Lallapalooza, and the Nuyorican Poets Café. His solo shows include: If the World Were Like Fat Albert & the Cosby Kids, Aware and Outraged, Dreadlocks, Rock ‘n Roll & Human Rights, and How Many Orgasms Does It Take to Stop Dropping Bombs?
