Join new Baltimore residents Dan + Claudia Zanes for an end-of-the-week all-ages song and dance party to celebrate the release of their new Smithsonian Folkways record, “Let Love Be Your Guide.”

Grammy Award winning performer Dan Zanes and Haitian-American music therapist / jazz vocalist Claudia Zanes have been singing together since the day they met in Brooklyn, NY. During the past five years they have developed a joyful style of electric folk music that has audiences of all ages dancing and singing along with gusto.

In 2019, drawn to the creative energy and progressive possibilities in the city, the couple moved to Baltimore. When the pandemic hit they stopped touring and went online with The Social Isolation Song Series which ran for 200 consecutive days and now lives in the Library of Congress Digital Archives. This led to conversations with Smithsonian Folkways, the leader in family music for over a half a century. The result is “Let Love Be Your Guide,” a musical mix that draws from Haitian folk, country, jazz, sea shanties, and blues, while paying tribute to the power of community in changing times.
