Disability Pride Arts Fest

Disability Pride Arts Fest

On July 15, Make Studio is excited to host our first Disability Pride Arts Fest in and surrounding our gallery on Keswick Road, in Hampden, from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.! Disability Pride Month is all about celebrating the achievements of people with disabilities, centering the disabled perspective, and bringing all people together.

For the past several months, member artists have collaborated with performance artist Valeska Populoh to create an interactive performance art piece illustrative of “6 Things You Should Know” in honor of Disability Pride Month, a time to celebrate and recognize the contributions of disabled people in society. We invite festival attendees to make their own art pieces and instruments to jump right into the performance, too, which will be fueled by the energetic brassy sounds of the Barrage Band Orchestra starting at 11:30 a.m.

The performance will cap off the festival, which will include free visual arts activities and resource offerings from Make Studio and a dozen arts and disability agency partners, music, icy cool refreshments, and an opportunity to contribute personal narratives for our concurrent gallery exhibition, I*D: What’s Unseen & What’s Felt.

Please follow our social media for updates on this event, including news from our partners and sponsors!
