Through a Glass Darkly: The Social History of Stained Glass in Baltimore

Through a Glass Darkly: The Social History of Stained Glass in Baltimore

November 18, 2-4 pm. Local author and anthropologist Linda Rabben launches her new book, Through a Glass Darkly: The Social History of Stained Glass in Baltimore, on opening day of an exhibition of the work of local stained-glass makers at The Peale community museum, 225 Holliday St., Baltimore 21202. The exhibition will run until January 7, 2024. Books will be available for purchase at the event.

Based on two years of on-the-ground research, Through a Glass Darkly, the first illustrated book on the subject, traces the evolution of stained glass from the mid-nineteenth century to the present and makes connections to the history of racial, religious and ethnic segregation in and around the city.
