Tenor saxophonist Billy Harper is a legendary figure in Jazz History and has performed with many iconic and prolific players who are NEA Jazz Masters: Art Blakey, Max Roach, Thad Jones/Mel Lewis, Lee Morgan, Randy Weston, The Cookers, and a multitude of others. Billy follows the rich lineage of the "Texas Tenor" and he is also an exquisite composer with numerous recordings under his name as a leader. Billy and T.K.Blue connected many years ago as members of NEA Jazz Master Randy Weston's African Rhythms. They toured, performed, and recorded with Randy on many of his historic projects. For this concert they will feature the original compositions of two giants in Jazz: Randy Weston and Billy Harper!
