More About: Voices of Carmen is an on-the-job training program in the performing arts for youth aged 14–21 years. Students collaborate with Broadway professionals to create a musical adaptation of the opera Carmen with a mix of Opera, Rap, R&B, and Pop. The cast learns and creates music, choreography, and staging while the crew works to prepare other production elements like videography, graphic design, props, and set pieces while musicians learn and perform the music from the show. Each week the cast, crew and musicians participate in two or more workshops including financial literacy, job readiness, restorative practices, studio recording, Broadway basics, stage management, emotional success, and creative writing.
