Baltimore was Revolutionized by Ship Building and the Railroad with Jon Goldman

For the third installment of the “It’s More Than History” lecture series, join Jon Goldman, Curator for the B&O Railroad Museum. His talk will look at the relationship between the Baltimore Harbor and the B&O’s founding in 1827, as well as the symbiotic relationship between harbor and the B&O Railroad in reinforcing Baltimore’s place in national trade in the 1800s, fueling industrialization in Europe. This lecture is one of three sponsored by the Baltimore National Heritage Area and presented by The Peale. All are presented for free. Catch up on past lectures on The Peale’s YouTube channel.

Presenter: Jon Goldman joined the B&O Railroad Museum in 2019 as chief curator and provides leadership and management of the museum’s interpretation, exhibitions, collections, archives, restoration, and education teams. Jonathan has worked in the museum field for over 13 years, developing impact-driven exhibitions, improving collections care programs, as well as developing engaging public educational experiences. He received a B.A. in Asian Studies from Occidental College, a B.F.A. in Art Direction and Design for Social Impact from the Art Center College of Design, and an M.A. in Exhibition Design from George Washington University. Jonathan has taught at George Washington University and is currently an adjunct professor at Towson University.
