Old time music duo Anna Roberts-Gevalt and Elizabeth LaPrelle bring an evening of crankies. Crankies are an old form of entertainment with roots in Appalachia, part low-tech movie, part puppet show. Long illustrations, usually on cloth or paper, they are presented in a frame and are scrolled during the telling of a story or sharing of a song. Besides their own crankies, Anna and Elizabeth have invited talented guests to share new crankies. Performer and visual artist Katherine Fahey; encaustic painter and former Patterson Resident artist Christine Sajecki; puppeteer and performance artist Valeska Pupoloh; and Rachel Valsing and Ryan Patterson of the Porch Puppeteers offer original crankies.
