The Baltimore Museum of Art celebrates the opening of Black Earth Rising on Sunday, May 18, with a free Community Day for all ages. This stunning exhibition features monumental paintings and works on paper, breathtaking films, and poignant child-size sculptures by artists exploring questions of history, power, climate change, and social and environmental justice. From 11:30 a.m.–4 p.m., reserve free tickets for Black Earth Rising and enjoy activities inspired by the BMA’s Turn Again to the Earth initiative with a Qigong mindful movement session in the Sculpture Garden, a live musical performance, and family-friendly activities. Visitors can also connect with local environmental organizations, such as the Natural History Society of Maryland, Bikemore, and Blue Water Baltimore; and enjoy a selection of delicious food and beverages.
