ABOUT THE BANDS
Oropendola
Oropendola is the project of Brooklyn-based singer, composer, and keyboardist Joanna Schubert, whose music blends theatrical chamber pop, playful dissonance, and lyrical storytelling. Her songs move between the whimsical and the intimate, drawing from keys-based art-pop and indie-folk traditions.
Waiting for the Sky to Speak - Oropendola’s 2023 kaleidoscopic chamber pop debut - was described as “at the meeting point between arms in the air pop perfection and something altogether more jarring and intriguing.” Swimming, her sophomore record, is an intimate piano-vocal collection adorned in minimal, idiosyncratic arrangements. Harkening to inspirations such as Fiona Apple, Regina Spektor, and The Roches, the album captures Schubert’s penchant and reverence for unfettered live performance
As a vocalist-keyboardist, Schubert has toured with Half Waif, Barrie, and Beccs and sung with Samir Langus, Elizabeth & the Catapult, among others. Currently, she is a member of Brooklyn-based bands Nicomo, Stephen Becker, and Talulah Paisley.
When Joanna isn’t making music, she is helping other humans make music. She teaches lessons in piano and songwriting, music directs eccentric musicals with kids, and sings with babies at the Brooklyn Public Library. She lives in a 5th floor walk-up with her 10-year-old cat Moose.
Freddy & Sally
Freddy and Sally is the chamber–folk duo of composer/instrumentalists Eli Greenhoe and Ledah Finck. Based in a shared reverence for the Appalachian and Irish folk music they grew up steeped in, the duo works collaboratively to layer and weave together intricate arrangements of original and traditional songs with a preference towards unconventional sounds and structures.
Georgia Beatty
Georgia Beatty is a musician and folk artist focused on cycle, lineage and healing through cultural transmission. They play fiddle, cello and sing. Georgia's study as a fiddler is in Norwegian music. Their latest album, THE BOOK OF STARS, releases in June 2025.
