Maryland Winds - Images: A Potpourri of Styles, Sights, and Sound

Our second concert series of the season uses the power of music to create images celebrating moments that have shaped us. This program honors the milestones of service and sacrifice and acknowledges the 250 years of both the U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Navy along with the 50th Anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War.
Experience the “wind in the sails” of a tall ship with the Topgallant Fanfare followed by a spirited musical interplay between featured soloists, Rob Aughtry and James Miller in Three Dances for Two Flutes. Through powerful works like David Gillingham’s Heroes, Lost and Fallen, which serves as a tribute to Vietnam-era heroes and the brilliant Concerto Breve written for the West Point Band, this concert celebrates resilience, beauty, and the spirit of those who serve.
Maryland Winds is an ensemble of professional musicians in the greater Baltimore–Washington, DC, area. Most are current or past performers with the premier military bands, in major symphony orchestras, or as freelancers. Many are also active music educators in schools and private studios.
