Digital Sticker, Stencil & Screenprinting Lab

FutureMakers is joining the Baltimore Museum of Art to present a set of all-ages workshops that connect the BMA collection, craft traditions and contemporary electronics. This is the first part of a 2-part workshop in digital vinyl graphics, screen printing and soft circuits.
The first workshop held on January 25th will be at the Baltimore Robotic Center and the second workshop will be conducted at the BMA on February 7. Participants can choose to attend one or both workshops.
Workshop 1: Have you ever wanted to try your hand at silk-screening? Here’s your chance! You can explore either digital fabrication or traditional hand cutting tools to create your screen.
In this workshop students will learn how to create stickers and silkscreen stencils using adhesive sign vinyl, hand cutting tools, digital drawing tools and robotic plotting and cutting machines. $20 fee for adults and $12 for child includes all materials (except t-shirts), enough sign vinyl for several stickers, and a full screen printing experience.
Participants interested in printing shirts simply need to bring their own garments ready to be screened on or a piece of fabric they can then sew on a jacket or shirt after printing— all other workshop materials will be provided.

For participants interested in the second part of the workshop at the BMA’s Big Table free event on February 7, we will also be using these screened samples to create collaged light-up soft circuit hearts.
