"It's More Than History" Lecture Series - Stories and More about Baltimore History and Personalities

February 6 – The African American Legacy of the Georgia Plantation of Carroll Park
Did you know that Carroll Park stands on the remnants of a plantation dating to the 1730s? Or that enslaved people lived, worked, and established families there until the 1830s? Mount Clare's story is much bigger than the Carroll family alone. It's also about the role of slavery and the significance of enslaved people to the site and its history. Join us to hear about the untold stories of enslaved people at Mount Clare as revealed through a re-examination of Baltimore's archival and archaeological collections.
Teresa s. Moyer, Ph.D. is an archeologist whose work focuses on plantation slavery, race dynamics, and public outreach and education. Dr. Moyer is an archeologist for the National Park Service in Washington, DC.
