Research Remix - Kickoff Reception

This Spring the Digital Media Center (DMC) at Johns Hopkins University is hosting Research Remix, an ongoing program that brings together visual art and academic research. JHU students and faculty in the sciences are submitting their research posters and data for local artists to translate into visual art. Programming kicks off on February 20th when the DMC will host a public reception at the JHU Homewood campus where participating artists and researchers will exchange ideas.
This interdisciplinary project explores the ability of visual art to engage audiences and find new meanings in scientific and other data. Participating artists include JHU students, staff, and faculty, along with illustration students from MICA and professional artists from the Baltimore area. Professional illustrator and Assistant Professor in the Department of Art as Applied to Medicine at Johns Hopkins Jennifer Fairman will present on the overlaps of visual art, illustration, and functional medicine. Afterwards, participating artists will choose which research project they will remix.
