Uncle Vanya

A dilapidated country estate is transformed into a hotbed of disillusionment and unrequited love by the arrival of the landowner's new trophy wife. UNCLE VANYA is Anton Chekhov's masterpiece of humor, hope and loss. Why do fools fall in love? With piercing satire yet deep sympathy, Chekhov examines the lives of lonely hearts in the somber Russian countryside of the 1890s. Translated by Nathan Thomas and directed by Ian Gallanar, UNCLE VANYA is presented this winter in repertory with a distinctly different modern comedy from the 1890s, Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest.
