July 4, 2015 is the 200th anniversary of the dedication of Baltimore's Washington Monument. Visit the museum in the base of the monument before climbing the stairs to enjoy a view that can only appreciated from the top of the monument. After descending you will learn about the Mount Vernon neighborhood. Mount Vernon was the height of fashion during the Gilded Age. Learn about railroad millionaires, the origin of American philanthropy, and the pioneering role the area took in urban development. Our new Monumental City tours are guided walks exploring iconic Baltimore landmarks in Downtown, Jonestown, Mount Vernon and Patterson Park every Sunday from April through November.
