Symphony concert to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II, and to honor the memory of Polish-Jewish violinist and humanitarian Bronislaw Huberman, who put his own career on hold, and dedicated himself to establishing an orchestra in Palestine – then a British Mandate of the League of Nations – “as a fist against anti-Semitism.” He set his own career aside and worked tirelessly to raise funds, audition musicians and obtain travel documents for nearly 100 members of prestigious European symphony orchestras and hundreds of their family members, thereby making it possible for them to escape the consequences of remaining in Nazi-dominated Europe.

Sundays At Three Sinfonia, a 45-member professional orchestra under the direction of Ronald Mutchnik, will perform the entire 1936 debut program of “the orchestra of exiles”. Twelve years later, that orchestra became the Israel Philharmonic.
