In conjunction with the Enoch Pratt Free Library and Banned Books Week (September 27–October 3), join us for a talk on the power of words and art. Chief Curator Rob Mintz will speak about the issues of censorship raised in Liu Dan’s painting The Dictionary (1991), currently on view. Dr. Mintz will be joined by Ellen Riordan, the Pratt's Chief of Planning, Programming and Partnerships, to discuss recent examples of the most frequently banned books, a few of which will be on view next to The Dictionary. Following the talk, visitors will be treated to a “read out” of passages from banned books.
