LEA GILMORE
"A Celebration of Baltimore"

Though Lea Gilmore has long lived in Baltimore, she is better known in Europe than in America as a powerful blues, folk, gospel and jazz singer and classically trained pianist. More than 300,000 people have attended her concerts in Belgium alone. She has released three acclaimed gospel albums: “Gospels for Damian," "Somehow I Made It" and “In the Spirit.” She has also released two successful blues records: “I Don’t Know Where You Are” and “Classically Blue.” The latter features Roots Café favorite Phil Wiggins. As a socially conscious artist, she has been active in the anti-leprosy campaign in Africa, in the Common Ground program in Maryland and in the American Civil Liberties Union. Essence Magazine has called her one of the “25 women shaping the world,” and disc jockey Marc Steiner has said, “Lea has one of the finest blues and gospel voices I have ever heard."
