Innovative French guitarist and composer Julien Xuereb strives to make every performance a unique experience. His musical style ingeniously blends elements of Middle Eastern music, Classical music and Jazz. When performing his own compositions, Julien often incorporates improvisation, giving his audience a new listening experience each time they hear him.
Julien's recent appearances include performances at the Madonnari Art Festival, the FallFest in RockHall, MD, the Engineer Club and An Die Musik in Baltimore, MD, at the Embassy of the Philippines in Washington D.C., for the Road Scholar programs and the Fret Festival at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore. Julien also plays actively at charity events coordinated by the Creative Access organization. Since June 2015, Julien is the Artisit-in-Residence at the Springwell Senior Living Community in Baltimore.
Julien is also a member of the Joystar Studios, Inc., a talent education program, for which he teaches, performs and composes. Julien offers lessons adapted to the tastes of each of his students, incorporating elements of classical training, theory, improvisation, and composition. His students discover ways to apply classical concepts to pop music, blues, country, jazz, and even rock and metal.
In May 2015, Julien Xuereb released a ten-piece cycle called Introspection, which outlines aspects of the human experience, including time, death, love, remembrance, and humanity’s place in the universe. The album, distributed by Morphius Records, is available on Itunes and other online distribution dowloading platforms.
Julien has participated in masterclasses with Matt Palmer, Matteo Mela & Lorenzo Micheli (SoloDuo), Manuel Barrueco, Tilman Hoppstock, Franco Platino, Rolf Lislevand, Benjamin Verdery, and Mattias Ia Eklundh. In May 2015, Julien Xuereb graduated from the Peabody Conservatory of Music with a Master of Music degree in Guitar Performance and Pedagogy with Julian Gray at and is now pursuing a Graduate Performance Diploma.
