An Evening with Loudon Wainwright III

Creative Alliance is pleased to welcome Loudon Wainwright III, one of America’s keenest lyrical commentators, for an intimate night of song. Grammy-winning folk musician and actor, Wainwright has inspired scores of singer-songwriters with his striking confessional style. He has used his witty, self-mocking tone as a vehicle to unpack the often humorous side of life and his vast catalog of songs swing from bittersweet and reflective to outlandish and wild, parsing out nuggets of truth along the way. He is the patriarch of one of today’s most famous musical families, and his acclaimed recent solo show, “Surviving Twin,” candidly explored his relationship to his father, the respected writer Loudon Wainwright, Jr.
His Film and TV acting credits include (hold on, the list is long): Judd Apatow's Knocked Up (for which he also recorded the soundtrack) and The 40 Year Old Virgin; Christopher Guest's For Your Consideration; Cameron Crowe's Elizabethtown; Martin Scorsese's The Aviator; Tim Burton's Big Fish; 28 Days, alongside Sandra Bullock, Viggo Mortensen and Steve Buscemi; Jacknife, alongside Robert De Niro and Ed Harris; Neil Simon's The Slugger's Wife. Parks and Recreation (w/ Amy Poehler); Undeclared (w/ Seth Rogen & writer/producer Judd Apatow); Grounded for Life; Ally McBeal; a recurring role on M*A*S*H and a role as the original musician/sidekick on The David Letterman Show.
