The Arena Players Gallery & Exhibition Space, 801 McCulloh Street, is now showing its latest exhibition, Storypiece: Documentary Story Quilts of Dr. Joan M. E. Gaither. This collection spans from Dr. Gaither's personal mentors to Baltimore history and icons from the wider Maryland African American community. Jim Gaffigan, with his stand-up routines, has been in the comedy circle since 1991. He started in the New York stand-up scene and now, in addition to continuing with stand-up, stars in movies and TV shows and has authored two books. HoCoPoLitSo’s guest for its annual Irish Evening is the award-winning poet Vona Groarke, recipient of the 2017 Hennessy Hall of Fame Award for Lifetime Achievement. Groarke’s most recent collection, Selected Poems, won the 2017 Pigott Prize for the best collection of poetry by an Irish poet. Noted as "brilliant and original" by the Irish Times, Groarke writes haunting and candidly sensual poems.

Maryland Center for the Arts & Music Land present BSO Concertmaster, violinist Jonathan Carney, who will coach up to 4 students on the violin on a solo piece of their choice. All experience levels are welcome, elementary through high school. Students should bring their own instrument and their music. After the master class, Mr. Carney will perform a brief, 30-minute concert. Teachers, parents, friends, and family are welcome to observe the master class and concert.

Walter Lomax was arrested in 1967 at the age of 20 and sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Robert Brewer, the proprietor of Giles Food Market. Mr. Lomax maintained his innocence from the time of his arrest. After nearly 40 years and repeated petitions for a new trial, a review of his case by Judge Gale Rasin and additional investigations led to Mr. Lomax’s release in 2006.
